14 maj 2012 · I think EMG's are the best pickups I've ever heard / used, and to be fair, I have no idea where all the negativity about EMG's comes from, they are just fabulous sounding, super quiet, and trouble free.
Benefits of active pickups are lower noise, low impedance (can be plugged direct into a mic input on a mixer or audio interface instead of requiring a high impedance input) and high output without the drawbacks of high output passives (usually darker sound).
14 cze 2022 · My Zakk Les Paul came with EMG-HZ pickups, and I was not impressed with them. They were a little bity and raw sounding. I switched them out for the Zakk Wylde EMG set and was much happier with it. Edit: I didn't know it was a mystery? Yes, the HZ are passive pickups.
