3 lip 2021 · Anyone here have experience comparing EMG's JV52-HZ, JV-HZ, and JHZ pickups? EMG's website descriptions for these different pickups are almost identical. I found YouTube videos demo'ing the JV52-HZ, but not the JV-HZ or JHZ.
31 paź 2021 · Speaking of batteries. I tried the 18-volt mod and I didn't like it. It sounded too clean to me. This was with an EMG-81. I believe EMG got it right when they designed their pickups to be powered with a 9-volt battery.
29 mar 2020 · I've had this love hate thing with EMG pickups ever since I first tried them. I recently posted a thread about me being about to ditch them (and going for a Nazgûl or a Custom). I remember when I first tried them, I was very underwhelmed.
My favourite bass is an FGN Mighty Jazz that came stock with EMG J/MMTW pickups, and I love it. Sounds very clear and crisp, basically a beefy jazz bass, and the tone control let's you shape it just enough to get a nice spectrum of tonal options. Love them, for many years.
The JHZ Set offers passive bass tone and feel with the reliability and frequency range known to EMG. Our design uses stacked coils with ceramic and steel bar magnets for a traditional jazz bass sound with increased output, and low noise. The result is a tone that has tight mid-range punch, smooth high end, and a classic passive dynamic response.

28 sie 2012 · The sound is very similar to an EMG 81/60 combo while distorted. It has much smoother and usable clean tones. Overall I find the tones to be pretty balanced.
