  1. 15 wrz 2022 · A commonly accepted paradigm (based on Virchow’s triad of thrombogenesis) posits the pathogenesis of LV thrombus as occurring as a result of the interplay of 3 factors: (1) stasis attributable to reduced ventricular function, (2) endocardial injury, and (3) inflammation/hypercoagulability (Figure 1).

  2. Left ventricular (LV) thrombus is a feared complication of LV dysfunction associated with high rates of systemic embolism, morbidity, and mortality. Traditionally, LV thrombus has been associated with acute myocardial infarction (MI).

  3. 1 lis 2016 · A left ventricular thrombus is confirmed if an echo-dense mass with well-demarcated margins distinct from the endocardium is seen throughout the cardiac cycle. It should be evident in at least two different views (apical and short-axis) and should be adjacent to a hypokinetic or akinetic left ventricular wall.

  4. 5 lip 2012 · Noninvasive echocardiographic differentiation between old and fresh left ventricular thrombi after myocardial infarction would be of clinical importance to estimate the risk for embolization and the necessity of anticoagulation.

  5. LVT is associated with increased risk of systemic embolism, stroke, cardiovascular events and death, and there is evidence that anticoagulant therapy for at least 3 months can reduce the risk of these events.

  6. 15 wrz 2024 · Left ventricular (LV) thrombus is not common but poses significant risks of embolic stroke or systemic embolism. However, the distinction in embolic risk between nonischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) and ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) remains unclear. Methods and results.

  7. 25 sty 2023 · Left ventricular thrombus (LVT) is a known complication of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and other cardiomyopathies. LVT increases the risk of stroke and systemic embolism, hence treatment with oral anticoagulation is indicated.
