10 paź 2022 · When a routine screening test for Ehrlichia returns a positive result in an apparently healthy dog, treatment with antimicrobials is not automatically the appropriate course of action. The decision of what course of action to pursue depends on several factors.
Tetracycline (22 mg/kg given every 8 hours) or doxycycline (5 mg/kg every 12 hours), administered daily for 4 weeks, represent the treatment of choice for canine and feline anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis.
1 cze 2015 · Treatment. All Ehrlichia spp. and Anaplasma spp. infections in dogs and cats respond to treatment with doxycycline. A treatment regimen of 10 mg/kg for 28 days is currently recommended.
If your veterinarian suspects ehrlichiosis, they can treat your dog with an antibiotic such as doxycycline. If your dog does not get better within 24-72 hours, bring them back to the veterinarian.

Canine ehrlichiosis is usually caused by the rickettsia Ehrlichia canis, although other types of Ehrlichia are sometimes involved. (Rickettsiae are a specialized type of bacteria that live only inside other cells.)
