Armor Materials works as a plain simple durability modifier (actually damage modifier) meaning that the durability the game shows us means absolutely nothing as long as we don't know the modifier. On the following spreadsheet you can see all available body armors and armored chest rigs with their actual durability.
The best destructibility stat is found on aramid with 0.25 - but since only irrelevant soft armors are made from aramid, the actual best material (2nd) is the ultra poly with 0.45. The worst are glass and ceramic with 0.8. the second worst is steel at 0.7.
