There are quite a lot of awesome icon font libraries out there, the most popular one being Font Awesome. Recently Bootstrap's creator, Mark Otto also released an open source SVG powered icon library. Looks pretty neat.

I bought font awesome 5 and I can still download and use the font awesome 5 fonts from their site, just 6 pro isn’t available to me. 22 votes, 24 comments. Thinking about going pro with fontawesome but wondering what happens with my client's websites when I drop it.

Buy it if you want, it's a good set...but to be honest: In my ~8 years of web design and development I have never needed to purchase an icon pack. There's plenty of them out there for free.
