The NPR 16mm cine camera was made by Éclair in France, 1967. NPR stands for noiseless portable reflex. As the NPR was so quiet and portable, it was often used for documentary films, and was an important part of the ‘Cinema Verite’ movement in France.
22 paź 2006 · I bought an Eclair NPR a few years back. It's a great camera and I've always enjoyed using it. I have long considered upgrading it to Super 16mm but with the advances in technology these days, would the money be better spent elsewhere?

Later 16mm silent models such as the 1960 Eclair NPR (aka "Eclair 16" or "Eclair Coutant") and the 1971 Eclair ACL were documentary cinema favorites. The NPR also saw considerable use in television production and was the standard camera used by 16mm film crews in the BBC's Film Department.
The most commonly used 16mm film cameras were the Arriflex 16BL and the Éclair NPR. These cameras were revolutionary because they could be synchronised with a portable tape recorder, such as a Nagra.
