The EA app is available for all players using macOS Catalina or later. If your Mac device is running a macOS that’s older than Catalina, you’ll need to upgrade it to use the EA app. Keep in mind that your device’s ability to upgrade to a newer macOS will depend on the model of Mac you own.

However, for now, there's a way around it. Workaround: Click the toggle next to the EA app (and your Sims game) to enable Full Disk Access.
Download and install Origin https://www.origin.com/gbr/en-us/store/download; Log into Origin using your existing EA/Origin account; Purchase the Sims 4 through Origin; Once purchased it will show up in your Origin games library, click on it and then click on Download. Enjoy! -

Here's hoping there are fixes coming now that the full public version is out and can be properly investigated. I thought some people said to reinstall the game after you upgrade with Catalina. Maybe that will help some of you. Is anyone having problems starting their sims on the new Catalina on Mac? Mine won't start - 1391813.
