Enlisted Ranks (grade E-1 to E-9) in the Army are the lower of the 3 Total Army Ranks. Enlisted Soldiers make up the majority of the US Army and are ranked from Private (E-1) to Sergeant Major of the Army (E-9).
E-9 is the 9th enlisted paygrade in the United States military. The E-9 grade begins at 10 years of experience with a basic pay rate of $6,370.50 per month and a drill pay rate of $212.35 per drill. The civilian equivalent of this military grade is roughly GS-6 under the federal government's General Schedule payscale .
