Make sure the TV is tuned to the correct input or channel, based on the type of cable that connects to the TV. Press "Power" or "System Info" on the receiver. If it responds to that, it might be just the remote that's not working right. Reset the receiver using the front panel.

Make sure your remote control is in the correct source mode. Press the CBL button on your remote control and then press the Guide or Menu button again. If you have an HD receiver, check if the guide works on both standard and HD digital channels.
