From what I've heard, they didn't get an official reason why the show was pulled; a friend of mine who worked on the team figured that because Disney lost a ton of money on the fourth season of Star VS the Forces of Evil that they're now unofficially gun-shy to make fourth seasons of almost anything that isn't a runaway hit.
