I was using Drama Queen, which is great for planning as well. Unfortunately, my trial expired and I currently can't afford to pay for it. The free version doesn't have a script function, which is both annoying and weird.

The only screenwriting app I consider to be reliable on Chromebook, or other platforms not listed here, is: WriterDuet and WriterSolo (web-based) How to Choose. All of the applications I've shared here are either free, or offer great free demo modes.

DramaQueen FREE is the freely available basic version of DramaQueen. It is the version into which the trial version automatically transforms after the trial period expires.
For actual screenwriting software, Celtx is okay to start if you want to get the basics down. Stay on the basic plan, which is free (start a free trial and then when it runs out, select basic plan instead of upgrading). Trelby is very good and it's completely free. Has everything you need, but I don't love the UI.
DramaQueen allows assigning a scene to storylines and offers features which extract a selected storyline from the story automatically and view it as an independent story. The Overview-panel makes it possible to display only the story steps and scenes of one particular storyline.
13 mar 2024 · DramaQueen is a free scriptwriting software download that’s compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems. It’s also very compatible with Final Draft, so if you want to import, export and format using that platform, DramaQueen is a good choice.
