A broken dragon pickaxe is a rare loot from opening ore packs from the Volcanic Mine reward shop. It can be repaired back to a dragon pickaxe by speaking to Nurmof in the Dwarven Mine, for a fee of 2,500,000 coins. Dragon pickaxes obtained in this manner will not be recorded in the Collection log.
It seems ridiculous that it takes a 20hr+ grind to get the broken dragon pickaxe, in the first place. Then you have to dump more money into repairing it than what it's worth. Would a 90 smithing requirement to repair it yourself be too good?
Nurmof will now make a Dragon pickaxe when presented with 2,500,000 GP and a broken Dragon pickaxe, obtained from the Volcanic mine. The Kalphite Queen will now also drop the Dragon pickaxe at a rate of 1/400.
Dragon Pickaxes have plummeted down to 1.6 mil gp since the wilderness boss rework. Meanwhile it still costs 2.5 mil gp to repair the broken version. That means that for any regular account that gets the drop, you are forced to alch for 300k or else lose 900k trying to sell it.
Currently a dragon pickaxe costs 1.7m. Nurmof in the Dwarven Mine will happily scam you 2.5m to repair a broken pick. Perhaps the high repair cost made sense before the Wildy Boss rework.
