Your health care provider can help you weigh the pros and cons of these tests. Diagnostic tests that can identify Down syndrome include: Chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
A low-risk result indicates a lower probability of the fetus having Down syndrome, but it does not completely rule out the risk. A high-risk result suggests the need for further testing, such as amniocentesis or non-invasive prenatal testing, to determine the fetus’s health status.

8 mar 2018 · Down syndrome results when abnormal cell division involving chromosome 21 occurs. These cell division abnormalities result in an extra partial or full chromosome 21. This extra genetic material is responsible for the characteristic features and developmental problems of Down syndrome.
