Apparently the live server folder, for stable release Dota 2, is named "Dota 2 Beta". Who made this insane decision? This will literally take me a full day to download again.

The resources for the game (textures, sounds, materials, particle definitions, ...) are stored in "valve pack" (VPK) files inside your installation directory. I just checked, and in total, VPK files take up 38 GB of storage on my machine.
9 lut 2024 · Since deleting just the bin folder manually worked, my guess is that the permissions/ACLs on the folders or files needed to be recreated to match some new security expectation introduced with the recent patch.
