13 wrz 2019 · Basically, a March-April 1945 dated crate filled with unissued M1 helmets was found and it also contained CAPAC liners and DOT/Anchor stamped leather liner chinstraps. It's interesting that the rivets are brass (indicated by the green corrosion) while the buckle is steel.
A true US WWII M-1 helmet liner can be identified through the frontal eyelet hole. If an M-1 helmet liner has one, there's a good chance it was made during WWII. Note: US liners produced in the 1950s and some European copies still retained that feature and some modern dealers drill them into the M1958 liners.

25 sie 2015 · Chinstraps were made from brown leather and featured a green metal adjusting clip, which later changed to black. After WWII the colour of the liner’s webbing also changed to a darker green shade.
M1 Helmet Liner Leather Chin Strap is a late war manufacture with the anchor stamping on the black steel construction buckle and "DOT" rivet marking. ("Scovil" or "DOT" both are Scovil manufacture). Used, but the leather is still in good condition. Leather remains highly supple and soft.
