I use DOSBox ECE and I can specify multiple floppy images (.img) with the imgmount command: imgmount a <first.img> <second.img> <third.img> ... -t floppy. then, with CTRL or RCTRL+F4 I can swap the floppy images in background during installation from virtual drive A:.

Yes: you can specify multiple image files as arguments for the imgmount command, and then toggle between them with CTRL-F4. For example: imgmount a image1.flp image2.flp image3.flp -t floppy. You can then press CTRL-F4 to switch which of the three images is mounted on drive A.
