Family day care allows for up to six children, ages 6 weeks through 12 years, plus two additional school-age children. There must always be one caregiver for every two children who are younger than 2 years old.

Applicants must submit all documents and clearances within 90 days. This includes fingerprinting and background checks. Each provider and assistant must complete a 30 hours of training in nine topic areas every two years. You must complete 15 of these hours within the first six months of employment.
