I dont know how exactly your mob trap works but there are 2 typical ways of how to handle spiders: 1. separate them and kill them separately so they dont clog up your system 2. do not let spiders spawn at all - e.g. modify your trap with half slabs

If a player is not prepared for a battle and has nothing but a sword, axe, a fist, or any item that deals damage, the spider can be killed whenever it comes close. Make sure there are no other hostile mobs around that could be distracting.

Now that you can't click-to-ignite, I find a quick 1-2 with TNT/redstone torch works well as an alternative. This will kill the spiders, and destroy the spawners. It'll also make a cool noise!
