8 paź 2024 · The ECG features of digoxin effect are seen with therapeutic doses of digoxin and are due to: Shortening of the atrial and ventricular refractory periods — producing a short QT interval with secondary repolarisation abnormalities affecting the ST segments, T waves and U waves.
OVERVIEW. Digoxin toxicity is characterised by gastrointestinal distress, hyperkalemia and life-threatening dysryhthmias, including increased automaticity and AV nodal blockade. Digoxin has a narrow therapeutic index and chronic toxicity is more likely in the elderly and those with renal impairment. Chronic digoxin toxicity varies in severity ...
DIGIFab® is indicated for the treatment of known (or strongly suspected) life-threatening digoxin toxicity associated with ventricular arrhythmias or bradyarrhythmias unresponsive to atropine where measures beyond withdrawal of digoxin and correction of serum electrolyte abnormalities are considered necessary.
8 sie 2024 · At therapeutic digoxin concentrations (0.6 to 1.2 nanomol/L [0.5 to 0.9 nanograms/mL]), ECG may show PR-interval prolongation and a scooped ST segment. With toxicity, ECG may show signs of increased automaticity (premature ventricular contractions), atrioventricular nodal blockade, and slowed ventricular response.
Although digoxin has a narrow therapeutic window, toxicity is an uncommon occurrence particularly now that low-dose regimens are standard in clinical practice. However, careful consideration and monitoring is needed in all patients to avoid rare, potentially life-threatening events.
3 lis 2020 · Acute digoxin poisoning manifests with vomiting, hyperkalaemia and brady-tachyarrhythmias potentially leading to death, whereas chronic digoxin toxicity is far more insidious, still with gastrointestinal symptoms but in addition bradycardia and automaticity on the ECG.
