22 maj 2022 · I'm stuck at a very early level because the instructor wants me to select Xpand2 as a software instrument in an insert in a track. I don't seem to have it installed, and have been completely flummoxed as to how to get it into my system. I found a download on Avid's site, which unzips to a .dpm file, but I have no idea where that should go.
Digidesign's Xpand! 2 makes newer versions of Pro Tools (8 and 9) that much more powerful by providing you with an in depth software synthesizer that emulates both electric and acoustic instruments of all types.

It might be a free plug‑in, but the Xpand! sample player bundled with Pro Tools has some serious potential. As part of the Pro Tools 8 upgrade, Digidesign introduced the AIR plug‑ins that we explored in the March and April 2010 issues of Sound On Sound.
