29 lut 2024 · Nike expanded into golf club manufacturing in 2002 and enjoyed almost 15 years at the top of the game alongside prestigious brands like TaylorMade, Callaway, and Ping. Unexpectedly, Nike exited the golf club market in 2016 — the debate is ongoing as to why the company pulled the plug on what was a seemingly successful avenue.
I remember the Nike Slingshot and NDS irons very fondly. They looked amazing and kept up with the game improvement irons being produced by the likes of Ping and Taylormade. The Nike CCI irons come out of that same golden age. Unfortunately though, I remember Nike fans being divided on the CCI irons.
Buyers liked the clubs quite a bit as they sold just as many or more than many other golf manufacturers. However, unless you are Callaway, Titleist or Taylormade the profit margins are not what a company like Nike was willing to continue being satisfied with.

2 lut 2007 · Unfortunately, the Nike CCi Cast iron didn’t perform well enough to set itself apart. It ends up in the middle of the pack for me here. The CCi, as a cast club, feel remarkably similar to TaylorMade’s r7 irons. The CCi aren’t nearly as heavy as the Slingshot OSS nor are they as light as my Titleist 804.OS.

In June, TaylorMade released R1 Black, and soon after the R1 (white) was discounted by $100. By mid-summer TaylorMade was growing desperate.
