D2RMM rips the original versions of files (specifically, TSV and JSON) directly from D2R using CascLib. This means that for the most part, mods should not be broken much by game patches. See the Nexus page to download it or the GitHub page for the source code. There are also a few basic mods I've put together for it.
I keep a copy or two installed to run mods like Path of Diablo or Median XL. However, I found at some point last year that I couldn't get the vanilla game and expansion to run under Windows 10 or 11, even after trying the many workarounds and fixes, including a full community-made PDF of troubleshooting steps.
