Demri Parrott. Demri Lara Parrott (February 22, 1969 - October 29, 1996) was best known for. her relationship with Layne Staley, the singer of rock band Alice in Chains. Parrott was born in Bremerton, Washington to Kathleen Austin and Dennis Dougherty on February 22, 1969.
Demri played a role as a muse for both Jerry and Layne. Layne was directly influenced by her while Jerry wrote a lot of his thoughts on Laynes relationship with her. Around 94 Layne began to realize that to become clean and stay with her, she also needed to be clean.

Layne and Demri met at a party back in 1988 and it was love at first sight. They were eventually engaged to be married. However, their addictions caused damage to the relationship and they broke off their engagement. Sadly, Demri passed away in 1996 of endocarditis caused by her drug use.
