14 kwi 2023 · In January 2023, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment William A. LaPlante directed all DoD organizations to begin full implementation of the Department of Defense Naming Commission recommendations. This directive includes the renaming of nine Army installations (listed below).
29 lis 2023 · The Army's Nine Base Name Changes Are Complete. On October 27th, 2023, Fort Gordon, GA, was redesignated as Fort Eisenhower. This change completed the Federally mandated change by the Naming Commission. As a reminder, the list of the eight other Army bases changed under the same mandate.

6 sty 2023 · The renaming will include nine Army bases and over 1,100 other military assets. Among the changes, North Carolina’s Fort Bragg will change to Fort Liberty, Georgia’s Fort Benning will become Fort Moore, and Fort Hood in Texas will become Fort Cavazos.
The Naming Commission process is now over and the names of bases, posts, ships, streets and more named after Confederate soldiers will change.
