Lesson One: The 3rd grade students will understand the food pyramid, what the six food groups are and what they entail. Lesson Two: The 3rd grade students will be able to visually and mentally know what a serving of each of the food groups looks like, what a healthy portion of food is, and how much is too much.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has developed these lessons to help you teach kids in grades 3 and 4 about healthy food and nutrition. The lessons feature a graphic developed specifically for elementary students titled MyPyramid for Kids (Nutrition Worksheets For Kids).
