Deep Creek Lake is a man-made reservoir in the U.S. state of Maryland. [1] It has an area of 3,900 acres (16 km 2 ), a shoreline length of 69 miles (111 km), and a volume of 106,000 acre⋅ft (0.131 km 3 ).
Deep Creek Lake State Park is located in Western Maryland’s Garrett County. The park encompasses over 1,800 acres and adjoins Deep Creek Lake Natural Resources Management Area and its 3,900-acre man-made lake.

Deep Creek Lake is the largest inland body of water in Maryland, covering approximately 3,900 acres surrounded by mountains, dammed up in the 1920’s. How deep you ask? A maximum depth of 75 feet, but on average around 25 feet.
20 kwi 2023 · The Rock Maze trail is definitely not a strenuous hike and it’s one of our favorite trails in the Deep Creek Lake area. This short trail is a great place to go either before or after a trip to Swallow Falls State Park.
