28 lis 2023 · Well, in Java Edition, lanterns definitely can be placed on top of, or hanged under Walls: and they can't be placed on sides of either walls or solid blocks.
Allow Lanterns to hang on walls. Example: https://imgur.com/a/LAbWREa. If lanterns could be placed on the sides of blocks there would be many more uses in builds. While trying out the new lanterns I found that I struggled in finding places to place the lantern.
You can do hidden lighting by putting a light source behind the wall and replacing the block in front of it with a stair. You'll have to remove more than one block to place the stair if you want the wall to remain smooth.
