INELDA offers a basic-training program that lasts 40 hours. Simpson says they’ve trained over 5,600 people since INELDA formed in 2015, 155 in Maryland. At Gilchrist, training occurs over two weekends and it is preferred that doulas have documented time doing home visits with hospice patients prior to the course.
