17 paź 2008 · Update: Dark_AleX has released a statement regarding the 0xFFFFFFFF PSOne error in 5.00 M33. According to Alex, the issue is due to the new pops supporting only PNG images in 24 bits format. PSOne conversion applications, such as PSX2PSP, save icons in 32 bit. Future M33 releases will automatically replace an icon with an invalid color depth.
Dark_AleX is one of the best known figures of the PSP scene. He's most notable works are the Custom Firmwares known as SE/ OE and later M33.
Just two days after the official release of the 5.00 firmware, Dark_AleX has managed to make custom firmware 5.00 M33. Here are some details and features from the readme:
23 paź 2008 · To enable the M33 network update feature: Boot into recovery mode, go to Configuration and set "Use M33 network update" to Enabled. If you are running a custom firmware that does not have this option, DO NOT use the network update feature to update, or you will end up with Sony's official firmware.

Originally made by Dark_AleX as a kernel patch for Custom Firmware M33, it was rewritten as a plugin by ner0n, to be able to use with (L)ME Custom Firmware (a closed source Custom Firmware written entirely from scratch, also made by ner0n that is based on Dark_AleX's CFW 5.00 M33).
