Don't think you can, but this is one of the reasons I switched from Windows to the Shield. You can add the native Android apps to the favorites or as shortcuts on the main screen and just launch them from there. Then when you exit the app, you're back in Kodi. Works good for SmartYouTube and Amazon. 1.
The only issue I foresee is how to integrate mobile viewing with this. Watched status would no longer be tracked on YouTube, but only with Kodi. I'm thinking that moving to Jellyfin with the appropriate Kodi plugin might work, so that on my laptop and phone I can use Jellyfin, and on my TV I'd keep using Kodi. But I haven't gotten that far yet.
