29 lis 2023 · Tuning Your Guitar To Open D Minor. Much like Open D, Open Dm is a low-tension tuning. This means the strings that need to be altered from standard tuning (6th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st) are tuned down a whole step, reducing the tension of these strings.
It allows you to play a D minor chord when you strum all six of your guitar strings in the open position. Open D minor tuning alters the pitch of four of your six strings, only dropping them down just a few steps to create a rich, resonant, open D minor chord.
How to set up Open D: start with the classical system, and then lower the first string (E -> D), the second one (B -> A), the third one down (G -> F #), the sixth one down (E -> D). At the top of the screen you can see the notes on the guitar fretboard for Open D tuning.

Since open D only involves tuning four of your strings down a half or whole step, you don't necessarily need to set your guitar up for open D.
