21 gru 2020 · In D&D 5e, evil is not self-interest, and good is not altruism. Yes, all three of the evil alignments include not caring about the harm you do to others as long as you get what you want, but what you want does not necessarily self -interest.
Bad guys can employ good heroes who are ignorant of the evil nature of their boss; Villains can deceptively work for good guys; Lawful Neutrals might put their dedication to order above other considerations, being indifferent to the moral convictions of those in their employ, so long as the rule of law is obeyed.
Evil beings of traditionally good races and good beings of traditionally evil races were encouraged but the alignment definition remained true to D&D standards, with good and evil retaining their meanings. Oppositely aligned characters will side with each other briefly if a threat looms over all.
