Alternate representatives. 6 (1) An adult who makes a representation agreement may name as an alternate representative any person who qualifies under section 5 (1). (2) Section 5 (2) to (4) applies to an alternate representative. (3) If an alternate representative is named, the following must be specified in the agreement:
"Act" means the Representation Agreement Act; "registered charity" has the same meaning as in the Income Tax Act (Canada); "representative" includes an alternate representative under section 6 of the Act; "RPP" means a registered pension plan as defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada);
The Basic RA7ALL is a Section 7 Representation Agreement that includes all four authorities (health care, personal, legal, financial). Some Representation Agreements (see below) may only authorize the representative to help with health care and personal care matters.

A representative’s powers or authorities are listed in two different parts of the RA Act, called sections — section 7 and section 9. The different types of Agreements have become known as RA7 and RA9.
