I've been scouring the interwebs for diy solutions for a custom backlit control panel, and have came up with zilch. Seems like only two people have ever tried it - Don Annis (Youtube), and Paradox Arcades (NASA build).

I bought and modded my Street Fighter II cabinet a couple years ago, and it unfortunately fell victim to the control panel art being worn away very quickly. I've given a bit of thought to just sanding down the whole panel and repainting and clear coating.
11 mar 2008 · I strip the cpo with a putty knife, sandblast down to the metal, then spray the whole thing with Rustoleum white. I tried black once, but you can see the black through lighter colored overlays. Luckily my Q*bert overlay wasn't fully stuck yet, so I was able to peel it off and reapply after I re-did it in white.
