In addition to the chain working on the rear cogs and rear derailleur the chain must be compatible with the front chain rings. Front cranksets are also designated for varying “speeds” to give an indication of the right width chain to use.

Are any quick links compatible with Campag 9 speed chain, and if not, can I buy rivets for it? I’ve had good results using KMC missing links on Campy chains. There are 2 different widths available (6.5 & 6.7). I don’t remember which worked better on Campy chains, but would measure and/or experiment before PBP.
To ensure compatibility, it’s best to read the manufacturer’s recommendations for the model of chain you have and also the quick link maker’s. Otherwise, you might end up with pedaling or shifting glitches like that stiff link from pushing a pin in wrong with the chain tool I mentioned.
