The Death House has a secret door that leads from the Basement to the First Floor of the house and from there it should be an easy escape. If you're that worried and don't want the party to go top to bottom just make it easier for them to discover the secret door.
Death House is the name given to an old row house in the village of Barovia—area E7 on the village map. (The other locations labeled on the map feature in the Curse of Strahd adventure.) The house has been burned to the ground many times, only to rise from the ashes time and again—by its own will or that of Strahd.
