10 maj 2012 · The Effects panel lets you set the fill of the text frame independent of the text itself. In the illustration below, text is not transparent, but the frame's fill is 50% transparent.
26 kwi 2007 · Just set the background color of the text frame to Paper (or whatever color you want), change the opacity of the text, and then turn on Knockout Group. It still works, even though the “group” is just one object. But I don’t find this as useful because it’s hard to position the text inside the frame properly.
25 wrz 2023 · The panel initially shows glyphs in the font where the cursor is located, but you can view a different font, view a type style in the font (for example, Light, Regular, or Bold), and make the panel display a subset of glyphs in the font (for example, math symbols, numbers, or punctuation symbols).
It would affect all the text in the frame - under object style you can switch "Effect for:" to "Text" and adjust the transparency/opacity. Otherwise if locally editing, under the Effects panel, select the "Text" line and then adjust the opacity.
I'm familiar with two methods for creating "highlighted" text in InDesign - Paragraph Shading and Paragraph Rules. Is there a way to add transparency to either? In the image below, I have some text with a blue background.

20 paź 2011 · When it comes to applying transparency to live text, Quark gives you finer control than InDesign. But there ways of working around this limitation. You just have to think outside the box, er, frame.
