In accordance with state law, Coweta County may enter into agreements with the municipalities located within the territorial limits of the county to provide animal control services within the corporate limits of such municipality. Pursuant to such agreement, any municipality in the county may adopt this chapter.

The Animal Control Unit consists of two Animal Control Officers who enforce City and State animal control laws and respond to calls concerning domestic and wild animals. Only Animal Control Officers may use a tranquilizing gun for capturing animals.

Evidence must be presented to animal services that the animal has been examined by a veterinarian and vaccinations against rabies and other disease have been administered within seven days of the adoption date.
