When analyzing the operation of a relay control system, it is helpful to have some way to temporarily denote the conductive status of switch contacts and the energization status of relay coils (i.e. a notation we might sketch using pencil on a diagram to help us follow the operation of the circuit).
This document describes the design and implementation of a 4-bit binary counter using relays. It begins with an introduction explaining the need for a state machine circuit like a counter. It then provides details on the relay components, including diagrams.
Use two relays to create a flip flop, then create a binary counter with 10 relays - a great way to introduce students to digital logic. Find this and other hardware projects on Hackster.io.
A typical relay switch circuit has the coil driven by a NPN transistor switch, TR1 as shown depending on the input voltage level. When the Base voltage of the transistor is zero (or negative), the transistor is cut-off and acts as an open switch.
A typical NPN relay switch circuit has the coil driven by a NPN transistor switch. When the Base voltage of the transistor is zero, the transistor will be in cut-off region and acts as an open switch.
29 paź 2023 · If you use an LCD display, you only need one switch to set the counter. Each time this switch is pressed, it could cycle thru a list of values 50-500 which then sets the counter if the switch is held for longer than say 2 seconds. The display would show the value that is currently in the counter.
