The Cooks have their own Kiwi designed and operated circulation coins, and NONE of the commemorative junk would be available to buy or use there.
If you see these coins somewhere - pic1 and pic2. please note that they are NOT 1/10 oz actual gold weight. They are .24 fine gold (note the dot before 24) which comes to about 5 karats worth. All over ebay, National Collector’s Mint has been making these since 2011. Its seems as if the sole purpose is to trick Americans into overpaying for these "patriotic" coins. Cook Islands has lots of coins and these are the only ones i've seen with this deceptive purity and markings.
Cook Island coins are aesthetically pleasing and serve as a sound investment for collectors and investors. The limited mintages and the intrinsic value of metals contribute to these coins’ desirability and potential appreciation over time.
