From 1912 to 1916, Hilton was a Republican representative in the first New Mexico Legislature, but became disillusioned with the "inside deals" of politics.
At the time of his death in 1979, Conrad Hilton was part of the exclusive group of people who were billionaires and had an estimated net worth of $1 billion. This money came from his career as a hotelier, and the Hilton Hotel Corporation owned around 3600 hotels globally.
Hilton died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on January 5, 2015, after suffering a major stroke. She was 67 years old. [2][5][9] Her mother was then 97 and suffering from dementia; [3] her stepfather sought unsuccessfully to take possession of Hilton's body.
