Good venue for music. Sep 2012 • Solo. It is a bit hard to review a place when the real deal is the attraction within it. For this review, it was a Nightwish concert. The place is well located, very close to two train stations and on a major avenue on the northwestern side of the city.
A former movie palace with classic architecture and an Italian-influenced interior, the Congress Theater was designated as a Chicago landmark in 2002. Nowadays it hosts plenty of big-name rock bands, hip-hop groups, and dance acts, thanks to its capacity of 3,500—but it’s not without its detractors.
Although only open to the public via architecture tours or visits for the next few months, The Congress Theater has been home to the likes of Billy Idol, Nine Inch Nails and Riot Fest – securing it’s place among our list of Logan Square’s best venues regardless.
