Yes, s-video is a huge upgrade from composite. Genesis doesn’t support s-video natively but does do rgb. Utilizing that will be a little pricier, but composite will still be a nice upgrade from coax so that would be a cheap easy upgrade. I personally went with a unique s-video adapter for mine.
8 kwi 2003 · Component splits the video signal into 3 separate channels, S-Video is 2 and composite is 1. The more channels of info, the better the picture quality. Some projectors have excellent internal processors that make the differences subtle at best.
People saying component is far superior, this confuses me. I've used both now and I like the picture I get better with S-video, so that's what I'm sticking with. The colors look more natural to my eyes.
S-video is a Y signal and C signal. Component is a Y signal, Pb signal, and Pr signal. The C is split into Pb and Pr when using s-video. As long as that is calibrated, then there is little difference.
