Birth of the New World - Wikipedia. Coordinates: 18.490106°N 66.626741°W. The Birth of the New World (Spanish: Nacimiento del Nuevo Mundo, colloquially known as La Estatua de Colón, lit. Columbus' Statue) is a 360 foot (110 m) bronze sculpture located on the Atlantic coastline of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
An 1876 statue of Christopher Columbus by Emanuele Caroni is installed in Marconi Plaza, 2848 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (United States), inside a railing that bears wire art of Columbus's three ships, the Niña, Pinta, and Santa Maria.
At the very top of the monument stands a 7.2 m (24 ft) tall bronze statue atop a 40 m (131 ft) tall Corinthian column. The statue was sculpted by Rafael Atché and is said to depict Columbus pointing towards the New World with his right hand, while holding a scroll in the left.

Sixty feet high, it was a column of stone and brick topped with a gilded wooden eagle. Pintard sent word to Boston, specifically seeking costs and dimensions; his Columbus monument was to be on much the same scale.
