How accommodations work for College Board exams requiring SSD approval: PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, SAT, or AP Exams.
AP Exam Instructions, 2023-24 An all-inclusive guide containing scripts and documents for the AP Exam. (See the AP Chinese and AP Japanese Exams: Setup and Administration Guide for instructions related to those exams.)
Under standard conditions, most AP Exams take 2–3 hours. For subjects that correspond to half-year college courses, the exam is closer to two hours. An accommodation for extended time usually gives either 50% or 100% more time.
Updates for the 2025 Digital AP Exams. Students with College Board–approved accommodations for extended time will now have the optional ability in the Bluebook testing application to move to the next section or end testing before their full amount of extended time expires.
The Next button will only appear for students with extended time: all students will be given the standard amount of time. After a student clicks the Next button at the bottom of the screen, they will see a message explaining that they have more time left and will not be able to return to the module if they want to move on.
If you have a documented disability, you may be able to receive an exam accommodation. There is a wide range of accommodations available, including extended time, large-print exams, a written copy of spoken test instructions, and permission to use a braille device, computer, or magnifying device.
