Mostly cod4 closes without a reason because the “Stereo Mix” device is disabled. You can read about that here. Plug an old 3.5mm jack into the mic input on the back of the pc. That was my fix for ages. Something to do with the stero mix as the other comment says. Hey all!
20 kwi 2012 · Here's my idea, list what mod and version that the server uses and manually download & install it. It may just be an issue with the auto-download of the files. I have the exact same problem. Ive tried completely reinstalling the game around 5 times (deleting all the files, redownloading from steam) installing punkbuster manually everything.
16 kwi 2009 · I get a DirectX error / Crash to desktop (CTD) when trying to change settings. Make sure you are not running Xfire when trying to change graphics settings because this is known to cause this error. You can change settings manually by going into the cod4/players/yourname folder and editing the config_mp.cfg file.
23 paź 2024 · On some PCs, the sound driver crashes the game before it starts. Plug in a microphone. Alternatively: Go to Control Panel. Open Sound settings. Click the recording tab. Enable stereo mix (right clicking and selecting "Show disabled devices" might be needed for it to be visible).
