15 lut 2024 · The facial nerve is the seventh (CN VII) cranial nerve and comprises two roots, a motor root and a smaller mixed sensory, taste and parasympathetic root, known as nervus intermedius, which join together within the temporal bone (TA: nervus facialis or nervus cranialis VII). The facial nerve has a complex and broad range of functions.
23 cze 2024 · The facial nerve, CN VII, is the seventh paired cranial nerve. In this article, we shall look at the anatomical course of the nerve, and the motor, sensory and parasympathetic functions of its terminal branches.
Basic Anatomy- BORING AND HARD TO UNDERSTAND. The facial nerve has three components, motor, parasympathetic (efferent) and visceral (afferent) fibres. The facial nucleus lies in the pons medial its motor fibres track around the 6th nerve nucleus called the facial colliculus.

23 wrz 2024 · The vestibulocochlear nerve is the eighth (CN VIII) cranial nerve (TA: nervus vestibulocochlearis or nervus cranialis VIII). It exits the brainstem through the cerebellopontine angle, passing into the internal acoustic meatus as part of the acousticofacial bundle.
CN7 exits the IAC fundus to traverse the petrous portion of the temporal bone through a bony canal termed the fallopian canal or facial nerve canal. CN7 first enters the facial nerve canal via the fallopian aqueduct to form the labyrinthine segment, 3 , 14 which continues to the geniculate ganglion.
