Illinois currently has reciprocity with the states listed below. If you hold a real estate license in an Illinois reciprocal state, no classroom or coursework is required. The only requirement will be for you to take the state specific portion of the licensing exam (40 questions).

Licensing Programs. If you’re interested in a career in real estate, you must earn a license. The required coursework is determined by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR). The REALTORS® Real Estate School is the auxiliary real estate school for the Chicago Association of REALTORS®.
You can apply for a real estate license after completing your pre-license education and passing the state and national licensing exam. Education options range from 2-week accelerated classes to 6 months online, self-guided learning.
