Now that WhatsApp has all but forced us to use the Microsoft Store version, I managed to find an alternative to download the Microsoft Store version directly. (For my fellow corporate folks with MS Store access blocked). Step 1. Get the direct URL of the app from the Microsoft Store website.
On my work PC I cannot open the Miscrosoft Store and cannot manually install Store Apps. Old WhatsAp Desktop does not work anymore, only tries to open the store. On the Website I cannot find a msi or exe installer anymore. Is there any way to get a WhatsApp Desktop installer? I can only use the Website now :/
To get new UWP app you can install WhatsApp Beta from Microsoft Store (the same app, but gets updates slightly earlier) To get old Electron app you can use installer from WhatsApp web site: https://web.whatsapp.com/desktop/windows/release/x64/WhatsAppSetup.exe
